MediaMelon accepts the following video file formats: .avi, .mov, .mpeg, .mpg, .mp4, .3gp, .asf, .wmv, .flv, .f4v.
After uploading a video to MediaMelon, the video file is encoded as a flash video (.flv). If the uploaded video is .mp4 or .f4v, the format is retained and the encoded video will remain in the same format. This allows retaining the quality of the video. For example, an uploaded video encoded in H.264 of MPEG4 AVC will retain its video encoding so that the video plays back in the original quality.
MediaMelon allows you to upload a file as large as 4GB. File smaller than 100MB can be uploaded via the dashboard directly. For any file larger than 100MB, we recommend using FTP to do the upload.
Yes, MediaMelon supports High Definition Video. You can upload HD videos encoded as H.264. MediaMelon preserves the encoding and enables playback of H.264 videos in a flash player.
The MediaMelon dashboard allows you to upload files that are of size 100MB or smaller. For larger files, we recommend using an FTP program that FTPs the video to the MediaMelon servers.
For publishers who are migrating from an existing service to MediaMelon, we offer a very transparent way of migrating your videos to MediaMelon. Please see the section on Migration for more details
MediaMelon provides you with an FTP server. You will use the username and password for your MediaMelon account to upload a set of videos. MediaMelon also allows you to create albums or channels of a set of videos. Each album (or channel) will have one or more videos. You create a new album (channel) from the MediaMelon dashboard and create a folder by the same id under which you will put all the videos for that album (channel).
The final video is always in .flv format. The video data within this format will be encoded using H.264.
The publisher can set the quality of the videos based on their needs. MediaMelon provides the following choices:
Please notify MediaMelon Support if you do not like the quality of the encoded video file or if you think the quality can be improved. An alternative to bypass MediaMelon from encoding the video is to provide your video as an .flv file. This will ensure to keep the original quality of your video.
MediaMelon servers will send you an email with the link to the final video and the URL to embed the video in your website upon successfully encoding and publishing the video.
MediaMelon creates default thumb images for each video that is uploaded. In case, you like to associate a different image, please log into the MediaMelon dashboard and upload a new thumb image for your video.
